Mississippi Comeback Sauce
This Mississippi Comeback Sauce is a game changer, y’all. It’s creamy, tangy, with just the right amount of spice and perfect on just about everything!
Mississippi Comeback Sauce Recipe
A mix between a spicy Louisiana remoulade sauce and a tangy Thousand Island dressing, it takes your dipping sauce options to a whole new level!
Starting with creamy mayo, the sauce gets even better with a sweet and spicy kick from the combo of sweet chili sauce, ketchup, and lemon juice.
Worcestershire sauce rounds it out and then gets a kick with spicy mustard, hot sauce, and spices.
Sweet, spicy, salty, tangy, and so easy to make, it’s my favorite condiment to use. I even use as a creamy salad dressing.
It’s similar to my french fry sauce and my bang bang sauce recipes. You must try all of them!
Where does it come from?
Mississippi Comeback Sauce comes from the South, specifically Mississippi, where it gets its name from. Possibly from a Greek restaurant in Jackson, Mississippi, named The Rotisserie.
Starting out as the house dressing in the 1930s, it became very popular because you can use it on everything.
Think french fries, onion rings, seafood, chicken wings, crab cakes, and even as a sassy dressing for your salads. Trust me, you need this classic southern sauce in your life!

Ingredients Needed
Mayonnaise – Duke’s is my favorite and a Southern tradition.
Ketchup – My favorite is Heinz but that might start a debate so use your favorite.
Chili sauce – Found near the ketchup, Heinz chili sauce is a tangier version of the regular.
Mustard – I like a spicy brown mustard or substitute plain yellow mustard.
Spices – Cajun seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder.
Kitchen staples – Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and lemon juice.

How long does it last?
Store your Mississippi Comeback Sauce it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If it lasts that long!
Can I freeze it?
Because of the mayo being used as a base, it can separate when you thaw it after freezing. It might become a little grainy too.
Can I use fresh garlic and onion?
While you can use fresh garlic and onion, they might be a little strong and change the texture of the sauce.
Tapas Tips & Tricks
