Equipment
Professional Chef Knife, 8 Inch
Aluminum Commercial Half Sheet (2), Silver
Ingredients
1
pound
ground sausage
cooked
1
8 ounce package cream cheese (softened)
1
cup
shredded cheese
2
8 ounce cans refrigerated crescent rolls
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or nonstick spray.
In a large skillet, cook the ground pork sausage until no longer pink.
Stir in softened cream cheese. Set aside to cool.
Fold in the shredded cheese.
Open the cans of crescent rolls and separate the triangles.
Cut each one in half, lengthwise, starting from the short end.
Place a teaspoon of the sausage mixture on the short end of the roll.
Roll up and place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Continue rolling until they are all done.
Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Add a can of Rotel tomatoes for a spicy kick. Be sure to drain them completely.
If you want a really crispy crescent roll, try cooking on parchment paper as opposed to a greased baking sheet.
I love to switch out my ground sausage for spicy sausage when I make this for an appetizer, which gives it a little more kick.
Add in garlic powder and onion powder, along with salt and pepper to transition this dish from a breakfast food to a dinnertime side.
Serve with a side of maple syrup, grape jelly, or mustard.
